After four years as a woodworker and millshop foreman, George Gerlach embarks on a journey to pursue what he loves most: building, remodeling, and restoring architecturally significant homes.
Driven by high standards and a growing dissatisfaction with third-party woodworkers, George expands the company’s services to include Custom Cabinetry & Millwork, ensuring the quality of craftsmanship matches the quality of construction.
A long-time client hires Gerlach Construction for a complex, large-scale remodel of a historic Highland Park estate. The success of that project becomes a launchpad for a wave of similar high-end remodeling work throughout the neighborhood.
To support its expanding architectural woodworking business, Gerlach Construction purchases a new, larger facility—establishing one of the most comprehensive custom millwork operations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
With demand continuing to grow, Gerlach Construction adds Architectural Restoration to its service offering. The company is commissioned to restore several century-old homes across Dallas, further establishing its reputation for historical accuracy and craftsmanship.
George Gerlach and his son, Colton Gerlach, continue to take on projects of architectural significance—many of which are featured in premier publications including Luxe, D Magazine, and D Home.
As the company scales, the millwork division relocates to a 9,000-square-foot facility in Dallas’s Design District, providing increased capacity and efficiency for its growing portfolio of bespoke cabinetry and woodwork.
Still proudly family-owned and operated, Gerlach Construction continues to grow under the leadership of George and his two sons, Colton and Nick. While the company remains deeply rooted in its legacy of craftsmanship and restoration, it is also expanding its footprint in luxury new home construction.
